Phase 3: Articulation.  Now that vibration and resonation have created the tonal substance of your voice—vowel sounds—the articulation phase comes into play. Articulation gives final shape to your voice, by creating the words and phrases that make up the content of your singing (and speaking) voice.

Phase 2: Resonation

The vocal folds produce sound waves that form the core of your voice, but they are not responsible for the final sound of your voice. In fact, sound waves of any kind, in themselves, would amount to very little if they did not have good places in which they could amplify their frequencies—that is to say, resonate.

The Anatomy of your Voice Pt. 1

Because voice production, or phonation, takes place inside our bodies, it is hard for the singer to know what is going on when they sing.  Knowing the physical process that our bodies carry out when singing can give us new insight into vocal exercise and health.  This study of vocal anatomy is the basis for my Voice Building System and the isokinetic exercises that form the method for my system.
